About Calvary
About Our church:
Calvary is a gathering of Christ followers determined to grow in faith, serve our community, and connect others to the abundant life in Christ. We hope that the information below will reveal to you our desire to help you achieve these goals for the glory of God. Consider this your invitation to experience this pursuit with us.
What to expect:
Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves." Matthew 11:28-29
Jesus invited weary people to find rest in Him. When you visit with us, Jesus will be magnified, and you will be encouraged to pursue a life of devotion to Him. During our worship services, we will invite you to engage with us in fellowship through inspirational music, prayer, and biblically relevant preaching. Author Robert Weber said, "Worship is not something done to us or for us, but by us." Remember, worship is an attitude of the heart.
There are many questions people have when visiting a church for the first time. To be of service, we have provided answers to some frequently asked questions.
Do you provide child care? We have a great group of church volunteers that provide nursery care for newborns to age three during Sunday School and Worship. In addition, we will dismiss children four years old through 2nd grade to Children’s Church at the midpoint of the worship service. Feel free to join your children on their first visit to children’s church to help ease their transition into a new environment.
What do I wear? Dress tends to be casual. You will find anything from khakis to suits, from dress shoes to sneakers. Our focus is not on appearance, but on worship.
What is your style of music? The music we sing at Calvary is a blend of old and new. We love both traditional and modern worship music. Although we intentionally emphasize content over style; we focus on being God-centered rather than man-centered. Our music ministry includes a praise team, live rhythm section, and a multi-voice choir.
Doctrinal Beliefs:
God—We believe that there is one God, who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus—We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, and ascended into Heaven.
Holy Spirit—We believe that God the Holy Spirit is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation, and is the Comforter and Guide, who lives in every believer.
Bible—We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, without any error, the sole authority for life and faith.
Man—We believe that man is a special creation of God, made in His image, but that through the sin of the first man, Adam, fell so that all men are sinners and need salvation.
Salvation—We believe that salvation is a gift received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Assurance—We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Eternity—We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ spend eternity in Hell, and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ spend eternity in Heaven.
Baptism—We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation.
Church—We believe that the church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the Head.
For an expansion of our Doctrinal beliefs, Calvary stands in agreement with The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 edition. You can find a link to that at https://bfm.sbc.net/bfm2000/.
